Description
As a key member of the Finance & Accounting team, the Controller will report to the Chief Operating Officer of the firm. The Controller will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all finance & accounting activities of the firm. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, receivables, payables, payroll, forecasting, budgeting, and monthly financial statements.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for month-end close and production of financial statements including reconciliation of accounts and posting of journal entries.
Oversee the monthly billing processes including generation of monthly statements, collections and receipts.
Maintain the firms fixed asset inventory and ensure assets are tracked and entered into financial systems.
Prepare and process semi-monthly payroll and ensure that all benefits are accrued and paid accurately. Primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll and expense reimbursement.
Oversee the budget process for multiple departments and offices and coordinate the preparation of the annual budgets.
Prepare monthly financial trends and forecasts for management and analyze results for recommendations to management of how to improve financial results.
Perform all finance and accounting functions.
Manage relationship with vendors and ensure accounts payable are processed timely. Reconcile credit card charges ensure expenses are posted the appropriate categories.
Ensure compliance with 401k rules and annual compliance testing.
Supervise other accounting staff.
Evaluates and advises on the financial impact of long-range strategic plans.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with executive and management teams to identify additional needs and business solutions.
Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business performance.
Ensure that effective internal controls are in place.
Qualifications and Requirements:
BS in Accounting or Finance and/or CPA highly desirable
5-10 years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles
Personal Attributes:
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations essential.
Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
Other Skills & Abilities:
PC proficiency is essential (Windows environment) and strong working knowledge QuickBooks and Microsoft Office products
